Elks Scholarship Opportunity – Spring 2024
Deadline: March 3, 2024
Award amounts: (1) $1,000, (8) $500 awards
Each application will be scored by an analytic rubric, a detailed outline for how each application will be read and scored. Using rubrics to review scholarship applications helps reviewers stay consistent, minimizes personal bias, and provides a useful reference for everyone involved in the process. The rubric consists of four, equally weighted areas: Merit (unweighted GPA); Financial Need; Relationship to the Elks; and Essay Response.
Candidates must be graduating in Spring 2024, and attending a vocational, 2- or 4-year institution of higher education. Funds will be paid to the institution. Deferred admission or gap years are not eligible for this scholarship.
Essay Prompt: (650 words max): What personal achievement are you most proud of and why?
2024 is the third year that the Denver ELKS Lodge #17 partnered with North High School to award a scholarship of $2017 to a graduating senior who represents the four virtues of the ELKS order. This amount is matched at 75% by Prosperity Denver Fund. The North High Alumni Scholarship Foundation awards more than (50) scholarships to North graduates ranging in value from $2,000 to $8,000. Students interested in applying for this scholarship should contact Joe DeRose or Jessica Solis at North High School.

Legacy Awards are $4,000 scholarships available to children and grandchildren of Elks members. Eligibility requirements are outlined below.
The student must complete and submit the ONLINE application. The 2021 Legacy Awards application deadline is February 6, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
The Elk sponsor’s membership will be verified through the BPOE Grand Lodge headquarters.
When a student registers to complete the online application, both the applicant and Lodge Secretary will be notified by email.
If you have questions about your online Legacy Awards application, contact the ENF Scholarship Office via email at [email protected]. Visit our Legacy Awards FAQ page.
Upon receipt of the application, the applicant will receive a notification that the application was received. Winners will be announced in late April 2023.
Note: Because the contest begins in one Lodge year and the winners are announced in the next, a Legacy Award could go to the child or grandchild of a lapsed member. An applicant’s Elk parent or grandparent must be a paid-up member in good standing at the time of application, but if the Elk chooses not to renew membership, that decision will not affect the outcome of the Legacy Awards contest.
