Denver Elks Lodge #17 has revived the charter of Scouting BSA Troop 17 as of 2020.
Scouting BSA, formerly known as Boy Scouts, welcomes youth ages 11-18.
Scouting builds character and community through a variety of programs and activities including camping, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, community service projects, and more. These activities instill a sense of confidence, preparedness, and honor in our youth.
Troop 217 meets Mondays 7pm at the Lodge
We currently have a boy troop, but want to expand to having a girl troop as well, by fall 2023. Please reach out to us if you’d like to be part of in the inaugural girl troop at the Lodge.

The goal for 2021, is to offer 20 nights/30 days outside. In 2019 we had 16 nights and 24 days spread out over 7 campouts so we are confident we can achieve this goal! Each year we are excited to do the Klondike Derby at Tahosa, camping with our fellow Troops, a week-long summer camp typically at Peaceful Valley or Camp Alexander, and excursions to National Parks, improved campgrounds, and backpacking/primitive camping. We also hike, snowshoe and bike ride depending on the weather, as well as non-outdoor activities such as playing RPGs and hit the arcade. We are planning to send scouts to Philmont in summer 2022, this won’t be available to new scouts, but it’s something to look forward to when they get older (13yo and finished 8th grade)!
