The Lodge awards close to $20,000 a year in scholarships, funded through member donations and Lodge fundraising.
How Awards Are Decided
Applications go through a scoring rubric weighted evenly across four areas: merit (unweighted GPA), financial need, relationship to the Elks, and essay response.
Where the Money Comes From
- The Denver Elks #17 Scholarship: Seniors in highschool apply for a scholarship to a college or trade school. Amounts vary per year.
- Legacy Awards — $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of Lodge members
- Elks National Foundation scholarships — the national Order awards 500 four-year scholarships annually, ranging from $1,000 to $7,000 a year
